This
new work was done in the National Museum of Natural History at the
Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. It took me a long time to
find my way into its labyrinth, with many obstacles to be overcome.
However, in arising to each challenge I became stronger and a little
smarter. And I began to find my way.

I
consider these pictures to be sketches, rather than fully realized
works. I find that returning to this approach, that of making studies
rather than "finished works", is refreshing to me. I enjoy the simple
process of searching earnestly to find the truth of the matter,
with no regard for outcome. It takes the pressure off and allows me to
make new choices. And I like the unselfconsciousness of the images that
result.
