When I am drawing I feel myself enter into a profound relationship with the animal before me. In seeking to discover its unique forms and subtle nuances I grow in understanding of not just the surface, but the essence of each creature. Every picture yields its own challenges and surprises. Each animal tells its own particular story, just waiting to be heard.
